Flection uses the latest technology to provide a 100% safe and reliable data destruction service. Our hard drive cleaning process supports at least 10 international data erasure standards, including DOD 5220.22.M and HMG Infosec No. 5. Our erasure solutions are supported by detailed reports that meet today’s government and industry privacy standards. Once tagged items are put on to the production line, the first thing we do is to turn the machines on to see if they successfully boot up. If so, we run Blancco software to erase any data. Should the client require cleaning to CESG Infosec 5 level, we will run Blancco version 4.4 at this stage.
Software audit The only version of Blancco that is approved to wipe data to enhanced standard is V4.4 R1. However we also run versions for clients who want to add OS and registered program information to the basic software audit report. Non-bootable machines If a machine does not boot up and run normally, it is put on to a repair pallet and either repaired or teardown (scrapped). Repaired machines are returned to the audit process for data wiping by Blancco. Harddrives that fail or drives from scrapped machines are crushed in such a way that the platters are rendered non-functional (for further details see Recycling- HDD Destruction). There is no known way to retrieve data from drives handled in this way.
